Major local food firms are registering edible insects as key product trademarks with the Korean Intellectual Property Office, in a move to utilize the cost-efficient protein source for profit.

register의 뜻을 찾아보니 여러가지 뜻이 있고,이 가운데 1번과 7번을 두고 헷갈렸는데 특허청에 등록을 했다는 걸로 봐서 1번이 아닌가싶다.

=> 무게 of 성분 식으로 썼다는 걸 눈여겨봐둔다.

=> 어떤 산업이 몇 년도까지 몇 조원 규모로 성장할 것으로 보인다는 식으로 경제 기사에 자주 등장하는 표현이니 통으로 외우면 좋을 것 같다

=> compared to 가 여기서도 나왔는데 기사 앞부분에서도 쓰였다. 

Insects produce high-quality proteins with less feed  and water needed compared to other livestock such as cattle, pigs and chickens.
이 문장을 보면 produce는 의도하지 않으면서 생산할 때도 쓰일 수 있다. 곤충이 단백질을 생산해야지, 라고 마음먹고 생산한 것이 아님에도 이렇게 쓰였다. 
produce는 기사 말미에도 쓰였는데, 좋지 않은 것을 만들어낼 때도 쓰이는 걸 볼 수 있다.

Bug farming produces only one-seventh the greenhouse gases of cattle, pig and chicken farms.


 '비교'하는 경우는 너무나 흔하므로 compared to 는자주 쓰이는 표현으로 보인다. 
 

 
참고로  propel이 사람에게도 쓰인다. 사람도 propel할 수 있다.
